PURPOSE: To obtain a mapping method used simply even by a person not having an expert intelligence as to a computer graphics by selecting the mapping method coincident with a shape of an object by letting the user only designate the object and mapping data.

CONSTITUTION: The system is to select a method suitable for shape data of an object among three methods of projection mapping. In them the projection mapping is referred to as a method in which mapping data are mapped once onto a projected surface and the mapping on an actual object is implemented from the projected surface. A setting method storage section stores three projection mapping methods using a plane projection surface 10 suitable for a plane object 11, a cylindrical projection surface 12 suitable for a cylindrical object 13 and a spherical projecting surface 14 suitable for other shaped object 15 and data to be set to each method. A shaped data analysis section classifies the object received from an input section into a shape close to a plane, a shape close to a cylinder and other shape and any of the methods described above- mentioned is applied.
