Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant that can be used for both a fuel oil with a high sulfur content and a fuel oil with a low sulfur content in a cylinder of two-stroke marine engine.SOLUTION: The lubricant for marine comprises a lubricant base oil for marine engines and at least one kind of overbased detergent composed of an alkali metal or an alkali earth metal, has a base number of not less than 40 mgKOH/g as determined in accordance with ASTMD-2896 standard, and contains at least one kind of compound selected from a primary monoalcohol, a secondary monoalcohol and a tertiary monoalcohol each having a 12C or more saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, alkyl chain or alkylene chain in an amount of 0.01-10 wt% based on the total weight of the lubricant.
