PURPOSE: To detect a normal signal by reproducing edge information while varying the generation timing of a detection window for generating a signal and controlling within the detection window even when the deviation occurs in the edge position of a bit at the time of recording by a mark edge recording system.
CONSTITUTION: When the bit for generating a clock is written and the bit is fetched to the readout and the clock is extracted, it is decided by independently respectively fetching a time tFB required from the front edge detection to the rear edge detection of the bit 1 and the time tBF required from the rear edge detection to the front edge detection and averaging them. Now, when a time interval τFB from the front edge reading of the bit to the occurrence of the detection window for reading the rear edge of the bit and the time interval τFB from the rear edge reading of the bit to the occurrence of detection window for reading the front edge of the bit are defined, and the width of the detection window is defined TW, the sure reading is performed by satisfying the inequalities.
