To obtain a common marker for photographing images of CT, MRI, and CT/MRI.
This marker formed into a full or a hollow rod using silicone- or Teflon resin shows high absorption at CT photographing, thus working as a CT marker. Polymeric elastomers including copolymer of styrene and isoprene, and polymeric gels including polyethylene gel show high signal in both of T1 and T2 intensified images of MRI and appears clearly on the image, thus working as an MRI marker. By filling a tubular CT marker with the material for MRI marker, the resulting material can be used as a CT marker as well as an MRI marker without mutual interference. Use of a single marker for both of CT and MRI imaging without replacement reduces errors on the image and enables more accurate focal positioning.
