To reduce the production cost of a marking device which forms a pattern on a surface of a material to be processed.
The marking device has a frame, a marking tool and at least one carriage for driving this marking tool. The respective carriages are mounted to slide with respect to at least two guiding members. A first guiding member is housed in an opening part formed in the carriage. A sliding bearing having a sheath is arranged between the first guiding member and an opposite wall of the corresponding opening part. A holding means is provided. The holding means is adapted to hold the other respective guiding members with respect to the carriage. The holding means allows the lateral action between the carriage and the other guiding member. Further, the holding means forms a volume chamber for receiving the other respective guiding members, and this volume chamber is opened out on one side of the carriage.
