PURPOSE: To avoid a push flaw on the surface of a strip, caused by an attachment of a foreign matter by making the central part of the roll barrel of a roll a dull surface, and making respective areas holding the dull surface on both sides bright surfaces in a roll with the thermal spraying coating of carbide cermet.
CONSTITUTION: For the basic structure of a roll with the thermal spraying coating of carbide cermet, a dull surface 4 is made in the central part of a roll barrel, passing through a strip, and bright surfaces 5 are made in respective areas holding the dull surface on both sides. Further, the width tip of the dull surface 4, is allowed to exist inside by ≥50mm respectively from the both edge parts of the minimum width Ls of a strip S. Consequently, the quality of the strip, is satisfactorily kept. Since it is possible to reduce the wear loss of the thermal spraying coating of carbide cermet, the surface of the roll, can be in a stable state for a long time, that is, the life of the roll, can be elongated.
