To provide a masking device where a sprayed coating deposited on the lower edge part of the inner wall of a cylinder bore is not peeled upon the discharge of a masking device, and also, the elongation of the sprayed coating like a whisker to a crank chamber can be prevented.
When melted molten droplets 11 are sprayed on the inner wall 4a of a cylinder bore, so as to form a sprayed coating 18, the masking device for a sprayed coating is arranged so as to be inserted from a crank chamber to the lower part of the cylinder bore, thus the sticking of the droplets 11 to the crank chamber is prevented. The masking device has a masking body 12 tightly sticking a slope face 14 partitioning the cylinder bore 4 and the crank chamber 6 with a tip outer circumferential face 15 and clogging at least the lower edge part of the inner wall of the cylinder bore, and the tip of the masking body 12 is provided with a coating contact evasion recessed part 19 making the sprayed coating 18 deposited on the inner wall 4a of the cylinder bore and the tip of the masking body non-contact.
