Abstract:

To protect a crank case of an engine and a head fitting surface from the excessive spray, and to easily recover the excessively sprayed material in the case of masking an engine block in a thermal spraying process of the engine.

A head fitting surface masking part 60 adapted to be engaged with a head fitting surface is included to prevent formation of a thermally sprayed film caused by the excessive spray on the head fitting surface 18 in an engine block 12. In addition, a crank case masking part 34 which is disposed in a crank case chamber 20 and adapted to be engaged with a lower end part 24 of a cylinder bore cavity 16 is provided to prevent formation of a thermally sprayed film caused by the excessive spray in the crank case chamber in the engine block.
