The master cylinder device 110 includes: a housing 300 the front side of which is closed and which has a partition wall that partitions the interior thereof into a front chamber and a rear chamber; a pressurization piston 302 which defines a pressurization chamber R1 for pressurizing a working fluid and an input chamber R3 into which the working fluid is introduced from a high pressure source 118 in the front chamber; an input piston 306 moved forward by manipulation force in the rear chamber; a manipulation reaction force application mechanism 446 which applies manipulation reaction force corresponding to the amount of the forward movement of the input piston; and a transmission rod 340 which is disposed to extend through the partition wall and the base end of which is affixed to one of the pistons and the top end of which is distant from the other thereof while the input piston is not moved forward. The pressurization of the working fluid in a pressurization chamber, which depends on the pressure of the high pressure source, is implemented while the top end is not in contact with the other, and the pressurization of the working fluid in the pressurization chamber, which depends on the manipulation force in addition to the pressure of the high pressure source, is implemented while the top end is in contact therewith.
