PURPOSE: To obtain a mat for artificial turf, capable of suppressing the movement of sand due to wind and rain after sanding and providing the manner of bounding a hit ball due to fall thereof close to that of natural turf and suitable as a ground of a golf practice range.

CONSTITUTION: This mat for artificial turf is obtained by forming a back structure 3 composed of a double knitted fabric having 6-36 wales/inch warp density and 6-50 courses/inch weft density or a double woven fabric having 9-70 yarns/ inch warp density and 9-70 yarns/inch weft density and 0.09-50cm2/hole in a face structure 1 of both on the whole surfaces and joining the peripheries of the holes to the back structure 3 with connecting yarns 2. The thickness of the mat for the artificial turf is within the range of 3-50mm. The resultant mat is stretched over a prescribed place of a golf practice range and coarse sand 4 is then filled therein so as to provide the same height as that of the thickness.
