To provide a mat type antenna which is capable of efficiently improving a magnetic field strength of an entire mat.
A first loop antenna 12 is disposed along with the edge of a mat 11, a second loop antenna 13 is disposed inside the first loop antenna 12, the second loop antenna 13 is connected, as an active antenna, to a reader/writer 100 and the first loop antenna 12 is configured to be a passive antenna. The first loop antenna 12 then includes first opposed elements 12a and 12b which face each other in parallel, the second loop antenna 13 includes second opposed elements 13a and 13b which face each other in parallel, and the interval of the first opposed elements 12a and 12b and the second opposed elements 13a and 13b is set to strengthen, each other, magnetic fields generated between the first and second opposed elements.
