Abstract:

To provide an inexpensive material for a contact component or a battery component with an excellent characteristic by applying a simple treatment on a surface of a steel plate.

This material for the contact component or the battery component is made of a metallic sheet having a surface layer part including a first metallic element, and the metallic sheet includes a Cr-containing steel plate or surface-treated steel plate. On an outermost surface of the surface layer part, at least one part of the first metallic element is substituted with a second metallic element with a standard electrode potential more noble than that of the first metallic element, and the second metallic element is deposited on the outermost surface under a condition of particular metal, oxide or hydroxide.
