PURPOSE: To remove fluctuation in material exchange performance and to remove press. loss, by building layers of material exchange membrane having many long and narrow pores supported with porous or reticular supports which are arranged alternately with the membrane, and by making groove-shaped pores on the membrane surface adjoining and facing to each other to form fluid paths composed of the long and narrow pores and the groove-shaped pores.
CONSTITUTION: Material exchange membranes 10, in which many long and narrow pores 12 are formed in the longitudinal direction, are put in layers alternately with porous or reticular support 14. The laminated body 16 is accommodated to a prescribed casing 18, and both longitudinal ends of the laminated body 16 are stuffed up with sealing material 20 such as adhesive material or packing. Hence manifolds 22, 24 connected to the long and narrow pores 12 of the membrane 10 are formed separately, and manifolds 26, 28 are formed separately on each side of the casing 18, these manifolds being separated with sealing material 20. Hereby, ports 30, 32, 34, 36 which connect the respective manifolds to the outer flow paths are provided.
