PURPOSE: To eliminate generation of residual material and realize certain clamping of a vice by providing a main vice in the rear of the material feed direction, with a cutting part interposed between itself and a feed vice located ahead, and letting said feed vice hold the front end of material and advance to feed the material according to the cutting length.

CONSTITUTION: During cutting, a feed vice 13 is positioned in A and material W is held between a main vice 12 and the feed vice 13, while after cutting, the vice 13 advances by required distance, for example, more than the breadth of a mouth piece 13a while holding the cut off material piece W' and reaches position B. There, releasing the material piece W', the vice 13 promptly passes through the cutting part and retreats to position C and holds the front end part of the material W. At the same time, the main vice 12 is released and the feed vice 13 is advanced to the original position A to feed material, then the main vice 12 is clamped to perform the next cutting. Accordingly, even if the cutting length of material is small, the material piece W' is not left in both vices at the time of the next cutting and the length of residual material comes to be very small, therefore, clamping action is always certain and the yield rate is improved.
