PURPOSE: To provide a material feeder for a cutter by which highly accurate material feed becomes possible.

CONSTITUTION: A material feeding vice 41 to grip a work is moved, and the work is fed. At this time, the work tip contacts with a stopper 99 arranged movably freely in the carrying-in direction on the carrying-out side in a cutting position, and pushes the stopper 99 forward in the carrying in direction in a contact condition. An encoder 85 is arranged in this stopper 99, and since a stopper position, that is, a work tip position can be detected accurately, accurate sizing becomes possible. Since the stopper 99 can evacuate to a work carrying-in passage, it does not become a hindrance when a cut product is carried out. Particularly, in the case where a front vice 43 is provided, when the stopper 99 is arranged in this front vice 43 and the encoder 85 is arranged in the front vice 43, a device can be made compact, and the accurate sizing becomes possible.
