Title:
MATERIAL INHIBITING HIV PROTEASE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11100377
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain a new nonpeptidic stilbene-based compound obtained by extracting it from galenica born in Thailand and purifying, and inhibiting HIV protease.

The objective compound is the compound of the formula and has following physicochemical properties: properties of material: pale yellow and amorphous; specific rotation: [α]D+183° (c0.11, methanol); molecular formula: C28H20O7; molecular weight: 468; or the like. The objective compound is obtained, for example, by chopping ta-kian of galenica bone in Thailand, extraction- treating the chopped ta-kian with water, ethanol or the like, concentrating the extract, adding water to the obtained residue to provide an aqueous solution, extraction-treating the aqueous solution with an organic solvent with low polarity such as hexane to remove lipophilic components moving to the organic solvent, distilling off the water from the resultant water layer, dissolving the obtained residue in the water, extraction-treating the obtained aqueous solution with n-butanol and distilling off the organic solvent from the resultant organic solvent layer.
