Abstract:

To provide a simple and inexpensive method of manufacturing a material for lithographic printing plates which controls evaporation from the sliding surface and ensures an evenly coated surface without lowering of the productivity in coating a coating solution including a filler and a solvent containing at least 60 mass% of water with a slide type coater for simultaneous multi-layer coating.

The method uses a slide type coater for simultaneous multi-layer coating for simultaneous coating of two or more coating layers which has (1) at least two slits extruding at least two coating solutions including a filler and a solvent containing at least 60 mass% of water each separately to continuously carried strip supports with their surfaces opposite to their to-be-coated surfaces supported with back rolls, (2) at least three bars constituting the slits, (3) a means of adjusting the temperature of the coating solution and (4) a means of cooling the sliding surface. With the coater, multi-layer coating is carried out by adjusting the temperature of the sliding surface of the coater to 2-10°C and the temperature of the coating solution to temperatures 5-20°C higher than that of the sliding surface.
