To protect a wiring/piping material arranged on a wall back from nails while allowing the drive of the nails when fixing a baseboard to a wall plate with the nails.
The protecting tool comprises a protector A1 having a rectangular protecting portion 11 formed of a metal thin plate and a pair of fixing portions 12 provided extending from the lower end of the protecting portion 11 via hinge portions 13 and bent at an almost right angle to the protecting portion 11, the protector A1 being arranged in an entry portion F1 of a floor plate F into the wall back between a hot water supply pipe B and the wall plate 7. The protecting portion 11 is moved adjacent to the hot water supply pipe B and fixed thereto, and a space portion V1 (the maximum space portion) is formed between the protecting portion 11 of the protector A1 and the wall plate 7 to allow the drive of a stud 9. The stud 9 reaching the protecting portion 11 is bent at its front end 9a to protect the hot water supply pipe B.
