PURPOSE: To provide a material tester, which can perform the data processing with the excellent operability and which can save the space.

CONSTITUTION: A touch panel 11 with a display is arranged in a column part 1B of a main body 1 freely to be moved in the vertical direction. A master computer 13 and a control device 12 are arranged in the back of the column part 1B. The touch panel 11 with a display is connected to the aster computer 13, and the master computer 13 and a slave computer of the control device 12 are connected to each other by a bus. The test condition is input by the touch panel 11 with a display, and the operation condition of the control device 12 corresponding to the test condition is set by the master computer 13. Output of a load cell 4 of an elevating head 3 and output of an encoder 9 of a ball screw 16 for elevating the elevating head 3 are converted to the digital data by the control device 12, and transmitted to the master computer 13. Data processing is performed by the master computer 13, and a result of the processing is displayed in the touch panel 11 with a display.
