PURPOSE: To enhance the light fastness of an image, in a material to be recorded forming an image using a recording liquid containing a water-soluble dye, by containing silica surface-treated with an org. aluminum compound in the material to be recorded.

CONSTITUTION: An organoaluminum compound having the reactivity with the absorbing component or functional group present on the surface of silica such as an aluminum alcoholate or an aluminum chelate compound is used. The organoaluminum compound is used in a ratio of 0.1W15 pts. by wt. of 100 pts. of silica. As a silica, synthetic fine particulate silica with a specific surface area due to a BET of 100g/m2 or more is used. As the base material of a material to be recorded for ink jet recording, various recording medii such as fine paper, medium grade paper, processed paper, synthetic paper or a plastic film are used and the above mentioned silica contained therein. By this method, the lightfastness of an image can be enhanced markedly without losing the excellent hue developability prossessed by the material to be recorded containing silica.
