Abstract:

To obtain a material having a low friction coefficient and improved sliding characteristics by melting or sintering a mixture comprising polyethylene and fluorographite.

A material having a friction coefficient of 0.20 or lower is obtd. by mixing polyethylene with 30-50wt.% fluorographite having a mol.wt. ratio R.M.F/C of 0.5-1.3, a particle size of 100μm or lower, an intrinsic density of 2.5-2.8 g/cm3, and a surface tension of 12-13dyn/cm, then melting or sintering the mixture at 220°C under a pressure of 50-100atm, and cooling the resultant product.
