PURPOSE: To provide an excellent display quality and to reduce the complicatedness of a driver by forming pixels of each row of a dislay panel in every other column and transversely shifting pixels of every other row with respect to both of position and color in relation to adjacent rows where pixels of respective columns have the same color.

CONSTITUTION: Pixels of a display panel too are alternately formed only at intersections between rows and columns, and every other row 1b, 2b, 3b, or the like is shifted in the transverse direction by one column. That is, pixels exist only in odd-numbered columns of rows 1a, 2a, 3a... and in even-numbered columns of rows 1b, 2b, 3b.... The color sequence of pixels in rows 1b, 2b, 3b... is so shifted that red, blue, and green pixels of triangular triads may be formed in pairs of adjacent rows 1a and 1b, 2a and 2b, 3a and 3b.... Thus, an excellent image quality is provided, and the complicatedness of a driving circuit is reduced.
