Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packet transfer unit transferring packet data while storing the data into a buffer with a small circuit scale at a low cost that can realize calculation of a mean buffer storage amount capable of high speed processing.
SOLUTION: The packet transfer unit is provided with a mean storage amount calculation section 8 that calculates a temporal mean storage amount of a buffer 2 when the storage amount in the buffer 2 is not zero and with an attenuation calculation section 10 that starts calculation of an attenuation to update the temporal mean storage amount within an idle time after the storage amount of the buffer 2 is zero until first packet data arrive.
