To provide the subject means for holding a seedling tray which facilitates the operations of placing a seedling tray on the ground and picking it up from the ground by providing a means which switches at least one of the two engaging members between being engaged to one end of a tray and being released of its engagement.

There is provided a manipulation means 9 which switches at least one of the engaging members 6, 7 that are respectively arranged to engage with the opposing ends 1a, 1a of a seedling tray 1 between being engaged with the end 1a of the tray and being released of its engagement, to obtain the objective holding means 5. The means for holding a seedling tray 5 may include a fixed engaging member 6 and a movable engaging member 7 which engage with the opposing ends along the longitudinal direction of the tray 1, a grip 8 for an operator, and a lever 9 for manipulating the movable engaging member 7.
