Abstract:

To provide measurement equipment for optical fiber structure displacement for making it unnecessary to conduct a test in advance each time an optical fiber is installed, and for, even when displacement has non-uniform distortion, accurately measuring the displacement; and a measurement method for the optical fiber structure displacement.

A structure 20 is non-linearly shaped, and configured such that non-uniform distortion is generated when displacement occurs. Brillouin scattering rays of light generated in an optical fiber 1 fixed to the structure 20 are detected, and observation power spectral data is measured from the Brillouin scattering rays of light. On the other hand, the model power spectral shape of the Brillouin scattering rays of light generated according to the size of the displacement of the structure is logically calculated, and this model power spectral shape is applied to the observation power spectral data. The displacement of the structure is calculated based on the applied most suitable curve-shaped model power spectral shape.
