Abstract:

PURPOSE: To achieve a higher quality and a higher reliability by a method wherein a Ba getter agent packed into a getter ring used as cathode tube is irradiated with fluorescence X rays and the fluorescence X rays reflected from the Ba getter agent are detected with a fluorescence analyzer to measure a quantity of Ba.

CONSTITUTION: A ring holder 2 is inserted into a holder grove 5a of a ring support base 5 and a getter ring 1 is placed on the support base 5. A getter ring fixing jig 4 having the getter ring 1 fixed thereon is set at a specified position between a fluorescence X-ray irradiator 10 of a fluorescence X-ray device and a fluorescence X-ray detector 11. The irradiator 10 irradiates a Ba getter gent 3 with fluorescence X rays 12 at angle of 45° and the detector 11 detects fluorescence X rays 13 of 45° reflected from the getter agent 3. The intensity of the fluorescence X rays for three minute is measured with the detector 11 to calculate Ba from a calibration curve prepared beforehand. The getter ring 1 filled with Ba above a prescribed value is processed as acceptable to be used for the assembling of an electron gun for an electron tube, thereby enabling analysis in a short time by non-destructive analysis.
