Abstract:

To compensate a calculation using clock by deciding actual frequency of inaccurate clock signal and generating compensation factor using the actual frequency.

Steps where the number of clock pulses of clock signal 24 over a specified programmable time period is counted (44) and actual frequency of the clock signal is decided based on the clock pulse count are comprised. Once the actual frequency of clock signal is decided (46), a compensation factor is generated based on an expected or nominal frequency of the clock signal using that value (48), for compensating a calculation using the click signal (50). Specific application using a power train control module incorporating a low-frequency resonator 26 and a high-frequency system clock 24 is expected.
