To enable to automatically and precisely measure lye and loft angles of a golf club, by retaining the head of the golf club at a prescribed position and then taking in an image of the head face, processing the taken-in image to calculate lye and loft angles of the golf club.
Score lines viewed from orthognally crossed two directions are extracted respectively from an image of a head 3 taken by first and second cameras 11, 12 to measure angles θs1, θs2. Next, head rotation angle θH is measured using score lines θs1, θs2 and a lye angle θLi is measured. After that, a laser slit projector 15 is driven to obtain the laser angle by projecting the laser alit light so as to cross the score line of the head 3 and is made an apparent loft angle θLs. Thereafter the loft angle θLo is calculated by a personal computer 18 using the head rotation angle θH, the line angle θLi, and the apparent loft angle θLs.
