Title:
MEASUREMENT OF RADIATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3667797
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To decrease the intensity of a radiative material required to exert the measuring function.
CONSTITUTION: A continuous casting mold 22 has a mold tube 24 accommodated in a water can. A means is furnished to measure the molten metal level in the mold tube 24, where the level is kept near the upper part of the tube 24 without causing overflow. The measuring means has a radiation source 32 on one side of the mold 22, and on the other side, is located a sensor 34 for scintillation crystal. The quantity of the material of radiation source 32 is kept at an essentially safe level, by installing the source material in one or more recesses provided in the wall of the tube 24, where a 'gel' light tube is used between the scintillation crystal and a photomultiplier.
