To provide a hardness/softness measuring apparatus and its analysis program for making an appropriate diagnosis by quantitatively grasping the hardness/softness of object parts such as in vivo tissue like muscles, internal organs like the prostate, or the trachea like the epophagus.
This hardness/softness measuring apparatus measures the hardness degree of the object part by applying vibration to the object part from a predetermined measuring position to detect surface wave generated to the periphery. The hardness/softness measuring instrument is provided with at least two vibration detectors 11A, 11B arranged at a probe 100 with a space L; a measuring instrument 12 outputting the vibration time series signals A(t), B(t); and a signal processing part for performing signal processing based on the analysis program. The signal processing part performs Fourier transformation to compute a transfer function H(f) using spectrum and cross spectrum, and further computes the propagation average speed Vr(f) of the surface wave and the thickness D(f) of the object part from the computed time difference Δt(f) and the space L.
