A measuring apparatus is constituted in such a way that a first towing body B and a second towing body C are towed by a towing role e1 and a towing rope e2 from a measuring ship A and that the measuring ship A, the first twoing body B and the second towing body C are loaded respectively with receivers a1, a2, a3 so as to receive sound waves from a sound source. By this constitution, the baseline between the receivers can be expanded. When the baseline is expanded, it is possible to prevent the measuring accuracy of the position of the sound source from being worsened and to prevent the measurement of the position of the sound source from becoming impossible even when the depth of the sound source is deep and when the distance between the receivers and the sound source is considerably away.
