Abstract:
PURPOSE:To measure the waveform of an optical pulse in a wide range of wavelength with high resolution by obtaining a signal corresponding to the correlation of higher order, higher harmonics and a signal corresponding to the correlation of a fundamental wave without using a nonlinear medium. CONSTITUTION:Two optical pulses having a delay one another which are obtained by dividing the light with use of a half mirror 22B of a Michelson interferometer 22 are combined and then made incident into a photoelectric surface 24A of a multiphoton absorption type of a photomultiplier 24 to be a photoelectron proportional to not smaller than a square of the intensity of the incident light. Outputs from the photoelectric surfaces of a multiphoton absorption type and a single photon absorption type of the photomultiplier represent a nonlinear self-correlative waveform and a linear correlative waveform, respectively. The waveform of the optical pulse can be obtained by analyzing the waveforms by an analyzing device 16.
