Title:
MEASURING DEVICE FOR MASS OF PARTICULATES EXHAUSTED FROM INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3585382
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply measure mass of particulates included in exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine.
SOLUTION: In this measuring device, visible ray is irradiated to exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine 11 by a light transmittance measuring means 12. Absorbance is measured from average intensity in all areas of wavelengths of the transmitted light. In addition, a flow amount of the exhaust gas is measured by an engine revolutionary speed sensing means 13. Based on Lambert-Beer's law, mass of particulates included in the exhaust gas is estimated by means of an operation means 14 from the absorbance of the exhaust gas and its flow amount. The device can be reduced in size and cost because its structure and computation method is simplified. In addition, the measurement can be repeated for a short time both in a stationary state and a transient state. The device can be mounted on an automobile, accordingly.
