PURPOSE: To improve detection accuracy by bisecting specimen transmitted light with a semitransparent mirror, allowing the same to a photoelectric transducer array by way of filters which allow the transmission of light larger in the difference of light absorption between back shade and target material and light smaller in said difference respectively to enter, and taking the output difference.
CONSTITUTION: The light transmitted through a blood film specimen which has undergone May-Giemsa's double staining is disected by a semitransparent mirror 5, passes through a filter 31 which allows the transmission of light of a wavelength region where the difference in absorbancy between white blood corpsucles and red blood corpsucles and enters a one-dimensional image sensor 7. Also, it passes through an interference filter 32 which allows the transmission of light of a wavelength of a smaller difference and enters a one-dimensional image sensor 33. The outputs thereof go through current-voltage conversion circuits 8, 8a, and AND conversion circuit 38, 38a, respectively, and in a subtraction circuit 39, a subtracted value is obtained. In a control circuit 40 using a microcomputer, the discrimination of white blood corpsucles is accomplished and a specimen moving device 3 is moved and stopped so that the image of the white blood corpsucles comes to the center of the visual field. Thereby, the accuracy of detection is improved.
