PURPOSE: To provide a measuring device which is of a small size and lightweight and easily handled, and by which a prescribed position can be easily and accurately obtained and also a prescribed position can be easily and accurately marked.

CONSTITUTION: A measuring device is provided with a pair of scales 1, 2 in which graduations 9 and long holes 7, 8 have been formed in the direction of the length, a latching piece which is engaged with either of the scales 1, 2 and the one side thereof is projectedly provided with a supporting stem 31 capable of being inserted into the long holes 7, 8, and a fixing member 34 capable of being screwed in the threaded part of the supporting stem 31. The scales 1, 2 are arranged up and down directing the respective graduations 9 or the like toward the same side, and the scales 1, 2 are connected so as to be slidable along the long holes 7, 8 and also to be turnable. A transparent or translucent cursor 25 provided with cursor lines 28, 27 is interposed between the upper scale 1 and the fixing member 34. A pair of engaging pieces 26 (not shown) capable of being engaged with the upper scale 1 are provided to both the ends of the cursor 25, and the cursor 25 is fitted so as to be slidable in the lengthwise direction of the scale 1.
