Abstract:

To provide a measuring instrument to obtain accurate blood pressure measurement results, as a result of guiding a subject of blood pressure measurement in taking an appropriate measurement posture.

The blood pressure measuring instrument comprises a load detector 9 at a position thereof for the subject to put his elbow on when taking a posture for blood pressure measurement and winding the cuff 5 around his upper arm. Before the measurement, it is determined whether the subject's elbow is at a specified position or an appropriate measurement position, by detecting the load applied at this position. After the determination, the measurement operation starts. During it, the load detector 9 detects changes of the load and its position to detect the subject's physical movements during the measurement and indicates to the effect.
