When a liquid is dispensed by a dispensing pipe 20A, which can suck and discharge a liquid, by moving a dispensing head 20 provided with the dispensing pipe 20A in X and Z directions, to measure the interaction between a specimen substance and a sample, the presence of the pipette tip CP detachable with respect to the leading end of the dispensing pipe 20A is detected by the LED 82 and photodiode 84 provided on the dispensing head 20 and the abnormality of the detection result is judged on the basis of the operation state of the dispensing head 20 in a detection timing at every dispensing pipe 20A and, in the case where the detection result is judged to be abnormal, processing to be executed is selected on the basis of the operation result.
