PURPOSE: To enable the completion of proper machining in a short time by measuring the coordinates of predetermined points on the electrode of an electrospark machining device, a clearance between a workpiece and the electrode made in contact therewith, and the machining shape of a workpiece on the basis of the results of the aforesaid measurements and the electrode shape.
CONSTITUTION: A slide table 102 in an X-direction, a slide table 104 in a Y-direction and a slide means 54 in an electrode Z-direction are connected to a driving circuit 56 and move in X, Y and Z directions, driven through said circuit 56. Furthermore, the coordinate of a touch sensor 52 when in contact with the surface of the shape of an electrode 124 is memorized by CPU60. And a plurality of electrode surface coordinates as obtained from the contact of the touch sensor 52 with a plurality of measuring points on the electrode 124 is inputted in a posture operation circuit 62. Furthermore, data stored in CPU60 as an electrode surface coordinate for correct posture is also inputted in the operation circuit 62. In this operation circuit 62, all the aforesaid data are compared for the calculation of proper posture and the result thereof is memorized in CPU60. According to the posture so obtained, a posture control device 42 is driven by a posture correction driving circuit 64.
