Abstract:
A measurement value that shows the amount of an substance to be measured in a specimen is acquired by introducing the specimen that contains the substance to be measured into a flow channel of a measurement chip having the flow channel constituting a cavity for holding a liquid and having a reflective part that causes light that has passed through the interior of the flow channel to undergo specular reflection and thereby pass through the interior of the flow channel again. Thereafter, with the specimen present in the flow channel, a first light, which contains light at a wavelength absorbed by erythrocytes, is transmitted through the specimen in the flow channel, reflected by the reflective part, and retransmitted through the specimen in the flow channel to yield a second light, which is detected. The hematocrit value of the specimen is then determined based on the detection results for the second light. The measurement value is subsequently corrected based on the hematocrit value.
