Title:
MEASURING METHOD FOR RADIATION QUANTITY OF LARGE DOSE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5646476
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To ensure an assured measurement for the quantity of radiation of a large dose with a small amount of mica, by utilizing the change of the heat-resistant property which is caused by irradiating the radiation of a large dose to the mica.

CONSTITUTION: When the radiation such as the X-rays, γ-rays or electron beam is irradiated to the mica previously, a change is given to the heat-resistant property of the mica. For instance, the mica with no irradiation of the radiation given yet is changed silver white and opaque with heating for one hour and at 720°C. However, if the radiation of 9,000 mega-rad is irradiated previously to the mica, the mica does not become transparent until the heating is given for an hour and at 830°C to show a reduction of the physical strength. Accordingly, the temperature at which the mica received an irradiation of the radiation becomes silver white and transparent through heating of one hour and at various temperatures is obtained, and thus the dose of radiation irradiated to the mica can be known.
