PURPOSE: To measure the surface area of the conductive part of a solid body readily, speedily and accurately by measuring the value of the current generated when a pulse potential is applied between an electrode being measured and opposed electrodes which are dipped in an electrolyte.
CONSTITUTION: Dipped in an electrolyte 1 are as an electrode 2 to be measured an object whose surface area is to be measured and at least a portion of whose solid surface has a conductive substance and opposed electrodes 3 which face to said electrode 2. The electrode 2 is connected to a reference electrode 4. With the difference between the electric potentials of the electrode 2 and the reference electrode 4 is kept constant all the time, the value of the current generated when a pulse potential is applied as a potential to the electrode 2 is measured in order to evaluate the surface area of the conductive part of the object being measured.
