Abstract:
PURPOSE:To display the remaining time of a VTR tape, etc., without reference to a rapid traverse tape speed, etc., by detecting the tape run speed from a difference in period of continuous double rotation of a take-up reel. CONSTITUTION:The rotation period of a supply reel or take-up reel is measured twice continuoulsy and a tape run speed is obtained by the expression of measured values DELTAt(n) and DELTAt(n+1), and tape thickness D given by v=2piD/[DELTAt(n+1)- DELTAt(n)]. This run speed and detection values of rotation angular speeds of the take- up and supply reels are inputted to a microcomputer, so that remaining time T1 of the supply reel can be displayed as not the rotational frequency of the reel but time with good precision. Total tape time T0 may be inputted previously and use time T2 can be displayed as T0-T1=T2.
