PURPOSE: To approximately digitize and measure the surface property of hair sensationally, i.e. touch sensation by moving a contactor made of a foamed body relatively while pressing it against a bundle of hair with constant force and measuring the degree of friction of the hair from the force required for the movement.
CONSTITUTION: The contactor 2 made of the foamed body which has soft elasticity close to that of the skin of fingers is fixed and held on a rigid substrate 3, which is loaded with the specific force N to clamp the bundle 1 of hair from above and below and bring it into contact. In this state, the force T required to draw the bundle 1 of hair lengthwise at a constant speed in this state is measured. The drawing force T relates to the force of friction between the hair 1 and contactor 2, so the degree of surface friction of the hair is obtained while digitized. Thus, a contacting state close to the contacting state between the fingers and hair is realized, so a measurement result close to the touch sensation is obtained quantitatively.
