To continuously measure a strain distribution of the axial direction in the full length of a pile by making use of optical fibers.
Optical fibers 62 are stuck on reinforcements 64 of a cast-in- place concrete pile 60 and reinforcement-gauges 61 are attached at respective depths of the pile head, varying positions of strata, and the tip of the pile. When the optical fibers 62 are stuck on reinforcements 64, grooves may be formed on the reinforcements 64 and the optical fibers 62 may be stuck thereon and a filler such as epoxy resin or the like may be charged in the grooves to cover the fibers 62. When a pile 60 is driven, the optical fibers 62 may be buried in concrete. The optical fibers 62 may be stuck on the inside face or the outside face of a steel pipe pile. A load is applied stepwise on the pile 60 and the reinforcement-gauges 61 and the stress gauges in the longitudinal direction of the optical fibers 62 are read out in respective loads. In this way, the strain distribution in the longitudinal direction can be continuously measured in the full length of the pile.
