Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical fuel pump (1) that can automatically supply fuel by effectively using power of a cam driven in response to rotation of an internal combustion engine (30) and has a simple structure and high durability, in the fuel pump for supplying fuel to a fuel injection valve (78) installed in the internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A mechanical fuel pump includes: a pump piston (8) for increasing/decreasing the volume of a pump chamber (15) by using power of an internal combustion engine (30); a suction side one-way valve (17) and a discharge side one-way valve (18) for controlling suction and discharge of fuel along with a volumetric change of the pump chamber (15); and a spring member (16) that pushes the pump piston (8) back to the pump chamber (15) to discharge the fuel within the pump chamber (15) from the discharge side one-way valve (18). A face on the opposite side to the pump chamber (15) of an intermediate wall (12) through which a rod (11) penetrates is installed facing a fuel passage that continues to a suction side fuel passage (21) leading to the fuel suction side one-way valve (17) within the fuel pump (1).
