The mechanical shutter testing device includes: brightness value calculating means 192 which controls the mechanical shutter of a mechanical shutter unit 21 on a CCD image sensor 13 that images incident light in a field reading mode acting as a frame pixel number reduced reading mode to acquire image data during a shutter period in which the mechanical shutter is closed, for calculating a brightness value of the acquired image data; and mechanical shutter determination means 193 which, based on the brightness value calculated by the brightness value calculation means 192, determines whether or not the mechanical shutter has closed within the prescribed time period corresponding to an electric charge sweeping-out period that specifies exposure time.
