To provide a mechanical stirring type desulfurization apparatus which can collect dust economically and efficiently by generating a flow of dust toward a suction opening formed on a side of a dust collection hood without increasing the suction capacity of a dust collector.
The mechanical stirring type desulfurization apparatus includes: an impeller 5 that stirs and mixes molten iron 1 accommodated in a processing vessel 2 and a desulfurizing agent added to the molten iron; the dust collection hood 6 of a covered cylindrical shape that covers an upper opening of the processing vessel; a suction opening 6a that opens on a side of the dust collection hood and to which a duct of the dust collector is connected; and a guide flow generating portion 11 that generates a guide flow of a gas toward the suction opening in a dust collection space 8 of the processing vessel defined by being covered with the dust collection hood.
