To provide a mechanism for holding a view finder, which easily determines a position of the view finder, has a lock mechanism for enduring severe condition, and allows a quick operation.

The mechanism for holding a view finder has a rotation base which is attached to a VF holder provided in the upper rear of a video camera and rotates in the horizontal direction, and a holding arm member having a lift rotation axis to rotate the view finder along a circular arc track in vertical direction and a tilt rotation axis to adjust an inclination angle of a display panel of the view finder. In addition, the holding mechanism also has a lock means for freely stopping the view finder at an arbitrary position irrespective of a lift position or a tilt position of the holding arm member, and accurately locking the view finder at a specified position for each of the lift rotation axis and the tilt rotation axis.
