Abstract:
PURPOSE: To require the re-constitution of a server state after a server is re- started or when the function of the server is succeeded by a different node and to judge whether a directory operation in the middle of execution, which is started by a client, completes or not at that time in a fault tolerant distributed file system.
CONSTITUTION: A request pre-inspection mechanism for solving the problem is provided. At first, a global locking for one or plural directories 114a is obtained. Whether the operation succeeds or not is checked by inspecting the directories 114a. When it succeeds, the operation is requested to the server 101. When a fault occurs in the server 101 during the execution of the operation, whether the operation completes or not before the fault is judged only by re- checking the content of the directory 141a.
