To treat daily-produced garbage by simultaneously effectively using, in a food factor, heat generated in a normally operated air compressor or in the condenser of a refrigerator and effectively using food machines no more in use.

A mechanism for treating garbage in a food factory is proposed in which a branch duct 4 is constituted with respect to an exhaust duct 3 of the air-cooled air compressor 2 of the food factory 1; a selector damper 5 is provided in the branch part of the branch duct and the exhaust duct; a fan 6 is provided at an appropriate part of the branch duct and a warm air blow-out part 7 is constituted downstream from the fan; the warm air blow-out part is disposed near the food machine 11 no more in use having a container 12 and the warm air is blown out toward garbage 13 charged into the container.
